AGAiN and mTw are both through to the quarter-finals after posting 2-1 wins in their respective matches.
In the match between mTw and Evil Geniuses, the WCG defending champions had to work hard to nail down the victory as they came from behind to overcome their opponents.
On de_inferno, mTw started out the brighter, inspired by Martin "trace" Heldt's poker pistol round, as they registered an 8-7 half-time lead. But the Americans responded in the second half to win the map 16-12 and take the lead.
mTw looked once again stronger in the earlier stages on de_nuke and their strong offensive play earned them an 11-4 result at the end of the first half. EG attempted to pull off another second-half twist, but this time around the Danish squad were careful enough to not let victory get away, winning the map 16-10.
EG knew it would be vey hard for them to win de_train as it is known to be one of mTw's strongest maps and they made sure to confirm so. After picking up eight rounds as Terrorist, mTw controlled the action in the second half to win the map 16-12.
Victories on de_inferno and de_dust2, sandwiched out by a loss on de_nuke, gave AGAiN a 2-1 success over H2k Gaming in one of the most exciting matches of the Round of 16.
The Swedish side looked really confident in the first half on de_inferno, picking up a 9-6 result, but the former Vitriolic squad fought back and took the necessary ten rounds to register a 16-12 victory.
On de_nuke, AGAiN were mere spectators in the first half as they were crushed 13-2 by the Swedish team's well-organised defence. Although they tried to respond in the second half, H2k would eventually win the map with the score set at 16-9.
It was feared that this result could have a negative impact on AGAiN's morale but it was quite the contrary as the Polish giants showed their best faces, going into the second half up by three rounds. There, H2k were never able to find themselves, losing the map 16-7 to be sent home early in the tournament.
mTw will now clash TyLoo, while AGAiN will go head-to-head with Power Gaming for a spot in the semi-finals.
